In this article we’re introducing a free home planning tool to pair with our ‘Builder-Ready‘ educational content, that we call ‘IdeaDrop’.

What is IdeaDrop?

The IdeaDrop home planning tool is a key component of our three-part service that will help you keep all of your inspiration and notes in one place while you plan your vision of your dream home. It allows our users to quickly add inspirational notes for the homes they’re planning within corresponding categories such as your Kitchen, Bathroom, Living room, Outdoor spaces etc.

Get rid of that paper and pen and move into the future, modern tools for planning new homes are now available.

What does it do and why is it important?

In this modern day, we all have a lot going on. It’s so easy to see something you’d love to have included in your new home or to have a great idea for your home, only to then be distracted moments later, forgetting all about what that great idea was.

IdeaDrop was designed for these moments, allowing you to quickly open your account on your phone and document those inspirational home ideas in their relevant categories so that you have them safe and sound, all in one easy-to-find location when you need them.

When you’re ready to start discussions with a builder and obtain pricing, our BuilderConnect program makes it seamless for you. The moment you request access to BuilderConnect, your collected inspirations from IdeaDrop automatically integrate into your HomeVision Summary. This comprehensive summary is then promptly shared with a carefully chosen Foresight Select Builder from our network, who will be eager to craft a personalized proposal for your dream home.

*NOTE: To access a customized New Home Proposal, completion of our HomeVision program is essential. You’ll also need to utilize our IdeaDrop tool, confirm land ownership, and show financial readiness in QLD, Australia. Examples of how you might use the IdeaDrop tool

We’ve designed our entire product suite bearing in mind that some people like to move fast, while others can be more methodical and like to work at their own pace. No matter which end of the spectrum you fall, we’ve got you covered. Consider the following scenarios of how different people might use the tools provided by Foresight Home Planning to plan their new home construction project.

Scenario 1 – People looking to build a home ASAP.

Tahlia is in the market for a new home and has decided she wants to get the ball rolling within the next 30 days. While doing some light reading about new homes, she discovered that Foresight Home Planning offers a range of tools that can help her plan her new home. Tahlia creates an account and begins playing with the free-to-use IdeaDrop tool. Tahlia has a good idea of what she needs from a new home already but doesn’t really know much about what she could include in her home to make it as good as it could be, so she decides to create a vision for her new home by following the steps contained within the HomeVision Program provided by Foresight Home Planning.

Tahlia worked her way through the program over a weekend and has produced a comprehensive list of what she wants to be included in her new home. She’s gathered some additional ideas she never would have considered and is happy to include them in her HomeVision summary. She then submits a summary of her new home inspiration notes that are contained within her IdeaDrop account along with her HomeVision summary to the BuilderConnect program offered by the Foresight Home Planning team.

The team at Foresight Home Planning then take Tahlia’s information, review it, and track down the most suitable builder in her local area. We partner with great builders throughout Queensland who meet our Approval Criteria so you don’t have to waste countless hours wandering through display homes trying to decide who to build with.

Tahlia can now be confident that she’s got the ball rolling and will soon hear from the Foresight Select Builder she has been paired with. The Foresight Select Builder will initially reach out to introduce themselves and look to verify your contact details and seek confirmation of intent to build a new home. Depending on the builder that has been identified as the appropriate match, the builder may require an initial fee to produce the tailor-made new home proposal for you, however, some builders do offer this initial quote free of charge. It’s likely to depend on the complexity of the home you are looking at building.

Once the new home proposal and quote have been created, the builder will arrange a presentation appointment where the builder will present the tailor-made New Home Proposal to Tahlia. The initial New Home Proposal will contain floor plan options suitable for her block of land, and a quote that fully encompasses the items contained within Tahlia’s HomeVision list and IdeaDrop notes.

Scenario 2 – People with time up their sleeve.

Brendan’s in the market for a new home and has decided he wants to give himself some time to really figure out what kind of home he wants to build. He already owns his current home, but he bought it on market as an existing property and now wants to spend a couple of months figuring out exactly what his perfect home would look like and contain within it. Brendan stumbles across the tools offered by Foresight Home Planning and gets started playing around with the IdeaDrop tool. Over the course of 6 months, Brendan utilises this tool to build a comprehensive idea of how he envisions his dream home. Occasionally adding new items that he wants to ensure are included with his new home, and sometimes removing items that he’s reflected on and decided actually aren’t for him.

Brendan reaches a point where he feels he’s covered all bases with the IdeaDrop tool and becomes curious as to what he might be overlooking.

Brendan decides that creating a comprehensive plan for his new home through the HomeVision Program is a logical next step. This program will help him to fill in any blanks and consider options he hasn’t yet considered.

Note that there aren’t any time restraints on working through this program so Brendan gradually works his way through over a 30-day period, allowing himself ample time to reflect on the contents.

Brendan often finds that after working through a chapter, it gets him thinking about other features, inclusions or layouts that he would love to be included in his home when it’s completed. Throughout this period Brendan has added more detail to his IdeaDrop notes creating a refined vision for his new home.

7 months have now passed, and Brendan feels confident he’s covered all bases, thought about all of the different variables & features and now has a thorough understanding of what he wants his new home to become. Brendan now decides to submit his IdeaDrop and HomeVision summaries to the BuilderConnect program for a no-obligation, tailor-made, New Home Proposal & quote.

The team at Foresight Home Planning review the documentation Brendan has provided and gets to work tracking down the perfect builder to bring this home to life. Several days later Brendan is notified by the Foresight Home Planning team that the perfect builder has been identified. The builder reaches out to Brendan to introduce himself and have a brief chat about the project, confirm contact details, discuss quoting fees if necessary, and to verify Brendan’s intent to build a new home.

Soon after, the builder provides Brendan with a tailor-made New Home Proposal, all within Brendan’s budget and taking into account the details Brendan laid out in his IdeaDrop and HomeVision summaries.

Brendan loves the initial proposal and wishes to make some minor adjustments prior to proceeding to a contract. Brendan pays an initial deposit with the builder so the builder can complete a soil test and site survey which are required for the builder to then produce accurate site-related costs (retaining, plumbing, excavation etc).

Brendan receives his site costs, is happy with the fact that the New Home Proposal takes into account all of the hard work Brendan spent planning his home over the previous months and as such proceeds to sign a contract for the construction of his new home with the Foresight Select Builder provided by Foresight Home Planning.
